The Sartin Law Firm, P.C. is dedicated to providing its clients vigorous and highly qualified representation at cost-effective rates. Our firm's policy is to discuss settlement strategy, proposed discovery techniques, and trial strategies with the client prior to engaging in the proposed services. With continuing consultation, the cost effectiveness of any proposed work is reviewed with the client prior to undertaking the services. In our firm's experience, such ongoing communication reduces the necessity of time-consuming and unnecessary written reports.
In providing representation to the clients, this firm believes that initially, we must provide a recommendation as quickly as possible regarding the likelihood of a verdict in the client's favor. Often, this can be done fairly early in the litigation process, before discovery expenses have begun to significantly mount. Once that analysis has been performed, we provide his best estimate as to the cost of the litigation through trial. The client must then decide whether to carry on with the litigation, or to pursue settlement. Our firm recognizes that the time-worn maxim of "try your winners and settle your losers" must be tempered by the realities of litigation expense. The Sartin Law Firm, P.C. will continue to work closely with clients to ensure that the client is actively involved in all aspects of the litigation prior to making this critical decision.
If the client decides to go forward with litigation, the firm will endeavor to keep its expenses fair and reasonable. The firm's billing practices are in conformity with the practices of the industry. The firm takes cases on a variety of litigation billing arrangements, which are dependant upon the representation. We utilitze hourly, contingency, fixed fee, and hybrid Attorney-Client Fee Agreements. A billable hour is 60 minutes actually spent working on the case. The firm does not bill for time which is not specifically designed to inure to the benefit of the client. Research time is billed at the usual rate for the assigned attorney. Reductions are customarily made where the time spent on matters exceeds the time that it would ordinarily require an attorney to perform the assigned task.
The firm has within its computer banks discovery requests which can be tailored to fit the case, petitions and complaints tailored to every kind and type of matter, and numerous motions which can be modified to fit a particular case. The benefit of these assets to the client is that the firm will not bill for research or forms which have already been developed. The firm's discovery tends to be, therefore, streamlined and quite cost effective.
Finally, the firm welcomes the opportunity to engage in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and mediation as approved by and in close consultation with the client. The firm regularly incorporates settlement conferences and mediation into its practice. The firm recognizes that ADR can occur at any stage of the pretrial proceedings, however, the firm prefers to engage in ADR as quickly as possible in the litigation in an attempt to avoid undue expenses to the client.
